RODEADO POR EL VIENTO SOLAR.
La Tierra está ahora totalmente dentro de una corriente de viento solar que fluye desde un gran agujero en la atmósfera del Sol. Como resultado, los meteorólogos de la NOAA dicen que hay una probabilidad del 60% de ocurrencia de tormentas geomagnéticas polares para el 6 de Enero . Los observadores del cielo del Ártico deben permanecer alerta por las auroras en la noche del viernes. Ver: Alertas de Aurora.
Ayer por la noche en Escandinavia, ráfagas de viento solar de más de 700 km / s provocaron “luces del norte” verdes, brillantes. Rayann Elzein envía esta imagen desde Inari, Finlandia, a unos 350 km dentro del Círculo Polar Artico:
“Qué noche aquí en la Laponia finlandesa,” dice Elzein. “Una mirada al cielo era suficiente para demostrar que aún estamos dentro de la corriente de viento solar. Se siente muy bien estar en el norte cuando aparece un espectáculo tan grande ” .
LAS MANCHAS SOLARES SE DESVANECEN, PERO EL CLIMA ESPACIAL CONTINUA.
A medida que comienza el año 2017, una cosa está clara. Las manchas solares están desapareciendo. Hasta el momento, el número de manchas solares ha sido cero casi todos los días: 1º de Enero, 2º, 4º, 5º, y 6º. Un examen detenido de Sol de hoy revela que no hay núcleos oscuros:
La cara cada vez más limpia del Sol es un heraldo de Mínimo Solar.El número de manchas solares aumenta y disminuye con un periodo de ~ 11 años, oscilando lentamente entre un Máximo y un Mínimo Solar. En el 2017, el péndulo se inclina hacia el mínimo.
Contrariamente a la creencia popular, el clima espacial no se detiene cuando las manchas solares desaparecen. Las últimas noches son la prueba: las auroras han estado en su apogeo alrededor del Círculo Polar Artico. La causa de estas auroras es una corriente de viento solar que fluye de un gran agujero en la atmósfera del Sol. Tales “agujeros de la corona” son comunes durante el Mínimo Solar. No hay manchas solares? No hay problema.

De hecho, una gran cantidad de cosas interesantes suceden durante el mínimo solar. Por ejemplo, como las manchas solares se desvanecen, la radiación ultravioleta extrema del Sol disminuye. Esto hace que la atmósfera superior de la Tierra se enfrie y se contraiga. Con menos aire “allá arriba” se produce la degradación de las órbitas, haciendo que la basura espacial se acumule alrededor de nuestro planeta.
También durante el Mínimo Solar, la Heliosfera se reduce, con lo que el espacio interestelar se acerca a la Tierra. Los rayos cósmicos galácticos penetran en el interior del Sistema Solar con relativa facilidad. De hecho, una oleada de rayos cósmicos ya está en marcha. Adios a las manchas solares y hola a la radiación del espacio profundo.
